日本語能力試験２級合格!!

Very happy, had to share… just checked my scores and I passed the JLPT Level 2 exam!
Thought I was just barely gonna make it (passing is 60%) but somehow I managed to get about 75%. Kanji/vocab was worse than I thought, but the reading/grammar was better than expected. Next up, level 1! woooooooo!
*ahem* yeah, don’t mind me… now back to your regularly scheduled blog… ^^;

Akiba Loot

Sometimes I feel like my loot posts are just cheap filler (not that that would ever stop me :P)… but regardless, if there was ever a time for a loot post, it’s now.
Today I present akiba loot!
Sadly no… no figures. In the end, given my shrinking available display space and the fact that I’ve pretty much ordered everything I really really want… I just couldn’t find anything I felt like buying. This trip got me back to my manga roots ^^; All told, probably somewhere between ７万円 and ８万円 spent on goodies (though I do have ～１５０００円 unaccounted for orz… did I really spend that much more on food/travel? ^^;;;). Anyhow, let’s take a closer look…

Getting Around Akihabara

Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t feel like I’m ever in danger of being lost in Japan… there’s always a subway station, rail station, or taxi around (not to mention helpful people) to get me back home. Navigating to a specific address, on the other hand, is a nightmare. Many buildings are packed with multiple stores on each of their 5-8 floors and no one seems to get around using street names.
So! Here’s a post to help you find what you’re looking for in Akiba… or to at least make it easier to get a feel for how the area is laid out.

This map is usually being distributed in front of Gamers, which is just outside the JR station. If you don’t see a stand, it might be too early in the morning, but it should be out by 11 or noon or so. Evidently there was an English version at one point, although this time I didn’t see it on the table… Note on the maps I’ve scanned, NORTH is to the RIGHT. So “up” on the map is west, “left” is south, and “down” is east.

Headed over to Asakusa to visit sensouji… I’m not Buddhist, but I enjoy going through all the motions (and I hope I’m not offending anyone in so doing m(_ _)m)… cleansing at the temizuya, burning incense, throwing coins into the offering box, omikuji ^^

So with my day trips completed and only 2 full days remaining, fatigue is starting to set in and I took things a bit easy today. If you’re looking for detailed figure/anime/manga coverage… sorry, not too much of that, please wait for me to get back from Japan ^^;
First order of business: find a stuffed animal for a friend’s girlfriend… to ikebukuro!
